Roger Continues Good Early Form To Take First Time Trial
Time Trial 1 on Wednesday 31st March 2010
On Wednesday 31st March the 2010 Lakeland CC season got under way with a nippy 10 mile Time Trial at Florencecourt. The club again is running a packed program for the 2010 season and are again proud to announce sponsorship from Pauley Cable Jointing, Lakeland Bikes and Dunlop Kitchens without whom the club would not be able to continue to develop and progress, not just at local level but on the national cycling circuit also. The details of all club events are listed on the club website lakelandcc.co.uk.
This year’s opener was somewhat in dispute until the last minute with snow and blustery winds threatening the event. The chief marshal gave the go-ahead minutes before and riders groaned with delight at the decision.
The example for those who stayed at home was set with a number of youth riders participating in there first ever event, and for the courage of these young riders we all could take a lesson from the example that they set.
Under 16 rider Lee Somerville from Lisbellaw proved to be the strongest of the youth participants with a respectable time of 32 minutes 30 seconds.
The winner on the night was a man coming into form at the right time of year. Roger Monaghan who proved too strong for the rest showed true form by crossing the line with the fastest time of the evening and taking early season points, placing him top of the table at this early stage of the season.
Further details of the up and coming events are listed on the website or a paper copy available at Lakeland Bikes on the Tempo Rd. Well done to the brave few who set themselves a early season bench mark and a mention from all the senior riders goes out to the youth riders on the evening who participated in the event showing true grit and determination at a level that would stand tall at any event within the sport of cycling.
