Lakelanders Impress At McCann Cup
McCann Cup Seskinore on Sunday 26th April 2009
The McCann Cup was held on Sunday at the Halfway House, which is between Fintona and Omagh and the race used the nine mile Seskinore Circuit which was covered six times. Raymond Dunlop and Dane Dunlop featured well in the race and at the end of the 54 mile race, Ray Dunlop finished in sixth place with Dane Dunlop in seventh place.
Winner of the McCann Cup was Richard Watter of the Harps Cycle Club, Cookstown, with second place going to Cathal Smyth of the Phoenix Cycle Club from Belfast with the new found Donegal cycle star Rory Devlin (North Pole CC) coming in third place. Fourth place went Leo McAllister (Ballymena RC) and fifth place was taken by Omagh Wheelers, Mark Sweeney, who was followed by Ray Dunlop in sixth and then Dane Dunlop in seventh.
In the 'B' race of the McCann Cup, Ray Pauley and John McManus, both of the Lakeland Club put in good perfromances in preparation of the forthcoming Tour of Ulster and finished in the main bunch just seconds behind the winner of the B race, namely Kyle Cromie from the Roe Valley Club of Limavady.
