Keenan Seals Inter-Club Win For Omagh Wheelers

Inter-Club 3 (Fintona) on Thursday 16th July 2009

Teamwork and tactics enabled the Club to maximise its A-Race points tally in the Inter-Club series with three Omagh riders finishing in the top 5 positions at the latest Inter-club event.

Five miles into the event, Seamus Keenan and Fintona's Patrick Withers broke away from the remainder of the first group on the road. Fellow Omagh riders - Paul McMenamin and Sean McLaughlin then played their part in disrupting the flow of the chasing pack, enabling Keenan and Withers to reach Creggan Crossroads with a minute and eight seconds to spare.

By the time scratch and the first group merged at Greencastle, the gap had almost doubled and so the chasing Omagh riders had no reason to set the pace from there on. On the climb to the finish at the top of the Glens Brian Mimnagh shadowed the attacking Lakeland's Robbie Bryson before surging ahead himself to take second place just behind Keenan and ahead of Withers. Provisional results as follows:

1 Seamus Keenan OW
2 Brian Mimnagh OW
3 Patrick Withers FCC
4 Robbie Bryson LCC
5 Ondrej Slobodnik OW
6 Raymond Dunlop LCC
7 Dane Dunlop LCC
8 JP Connolly OW
