Kenny Back On Track With Time-Trial Win

Time Trial 5 on Wednesday 17th June 2009

The Pedalware time trial was held last Wednesday evening at the Five Points and true to form, Kenny Boylan topped the event on the evening. Second was the much improved and currently in-form Kenny Donnell, who finished over two minutes behind Boylan. Third place was the chairman of the Lakeland Cycle Club Ray Pauley who came close to beating Donnell, but lost by four seconds.

First man off on the event from the Five Points was Tom White but he was caught by visiting Omagh Wheelers cyclist John Quinn who posted a time of 26 minutes and 44 seconds with Donnell"s time 27 minutes and 59 seconds. White was happy with his time, as he had been of the bike for the recent month.

Sean Fee from the Lakeland Club was next man off and to eveyone"s surprise his time was exactly the same as Quinn and thus ended the event in joint 11th place with Quinn. Declan McGirr (Fintona CC) then set the fastest time of the evening thus far but there was still a lot of the big guns to go and McGirr ended the event in fifth place overall, when all were finished.

Next to spoil the fun on the visiting Fintona CC McGirr was Neil Armstrong who give all he could and who wanted to finish in the top three places due to the absences of the Dunlop cousins. Armstrong, however, returned a time of 25 minutes and 25 seconds, giving him the best time at that stage.

2008 new novice member Alan Magee was delighted at his time and even more surprised at the end of the event when he was told his overall place which was tenth.

Club sponsorer, Ray Pauley (Cable Jointing) was the third last man off and and along the route he caught his minute man, namely Michael Bond from the Omagh Wheelers and Pauley crossed the line just seven seconds ahead of Bond, but now had set the fastest time of 25 minutes and 12 seconds.

Following Pauley on the 10 mile time trial course was Kenny Donnell, who has been improving with each time trial event but had Kenny Boylan chasing him. Even with Boylan being the last man off, his pace was high and he managed to catch the four men in front of him and set the fastest time of 23 minutes and one second.

With Donnell been the second last man to go, the time keeper had to wait for Donnell to return over the line and it was revealed that Donnell set the second fastest time by beating third place man Pauley by just four seconds in a time of 25 minutes and 8 seconds.
