Kenny Is King Again
Hill Climb 1 on Sunday 27th April 2008
The Lakeland CC “hard men of the hills” were in attendance for the first hill climb of the year, on Sunday, April 27, from Dernawilt Cross up to Carnmore view point. The three mile climb is tough, particularly at one point where the gradient is such that you can run out of gears!
The hardest of the hard men on this occasion was Kenny Boylan with a time of 11 minutes and 26 seconds with Raymond Dunlop second with 11 minutes and 59 seconds.
Third was Brian Martin who showed his father Peter, when it comes to the hills, there is only one “King” in the Martin family. Neil Armstrong showed a good improvement on his time from last year (his new coach is getting more out of him). New club men Keith Johnston and Alan Magee showed they can mix it with the Lakeland hard men. Ken Dunlop was hampered on the climb with a strained hamstring while thanks go to Geraldine, Willie and Jean for marshalling the event.
