BOYLAN WINS HILL CLIMB LEAGUE

Hill Climb 5 on Sunday 19th August 2007

On Sunday 19th August Hill Climb 5, the two mile climb up to Noon’s Cave at Boho, took place. This is a fairly tough climb and only six riders were up for the challenge. The result of this would determine the overall winner of this year’s Hill Climb League so all the big hitters were in attendance. The riders were set off as usual at minute intervals.

At the end of the event only fifteen seconds separated the top three climbers. Kenny Boylan won the event, and with it the Hill Climb League also, with a time of

8 minutes and 11 seconds. Raymond Dunlop was only 11 seconds behind Kenny in second place and Robbie Bryson a further 4 seconds back in third.

Last man off, Robert Wilson, thought he was dreaming when he saw that he was catching Robbie Bryson however it turned out that Robbie was having a nightmare with his back wheel hub slipping. Robbie dumped the bike and ran the rest of the climb. He was then allowed to borrow a bike to redo the event in the interests of fair play.
