New Equipment - Same Result!
Time Trial 3 on Wednesday 30th May 2007
On Wednesday, May 30 the third time trial in the Lakeland CC calendar took place. The advertised 25 mile TT was postponed and the 10 mile Five Points - Gortatole event happened instead.
A lot of the big names were missing from the line up saving themselves for the gruelling Ras Dun na nGall, three day race in Killybegs over the coming weekend.
The 14 riders were set off at one minute intervals from the Five Points where they headed towards Gortatole for five miles, turned on the road and came back. This was Kenny Boylan’s first Lakeland event on his new time trial bike and Kenny on the ‘scud missile’ didn’t disappoint winning with a time of 23 mins 1 sec. Fintona CC’s Fergus McGirr showed his good form this year in second spot with a time of 24 mins 40 secs and Willie Dunlop completed the podium places with a time of 25 mins 3 secs.
Neil Armstrong showed his continued improvement this year at time-trialing by beating Raymond Pauley with whom he had tied in the last TT. Kenny Dunlop and Wesley Foster also both had notable performances on the night. Thanks to our usual motley crew of marshals who thankfully have nothing better to do of an evening.
