Boylan Tops At Gortalughany
Hill Climb 2 on Sunday 27th May 2007
Sunday 22nd July saw the rescheduled Hill Climb 2, the two mile Swanlinbar road to Gortalughanny event, take place. The hill climbs this year are the toughest ever thanks to Robbie Bryson, the little masochist, and as such only the toughest, most sinewy men dare to show up.
The nine riders were set off at minute intervals as usual. Kenny Boylan showed he is coming into form by coming in first with a time of 11 mins 20 secs despite a slight delay when stuck behind a minibus on the way up. Dane Dunlop was only 25 seconds behind in second place with 11 mins 45 secs and Ray Dunlop was third with 12 mins 18 secs. Glen McCleery made an impressive first hill climb performance showing that some footballers are fit. One rider did stop for a rest on the way up so the rules will have to be checked to see if he technically did not complete the climb.
