Emyvale Inter-Club Race
Inter-Club 1 (Emyvale) on Tuesday 8th May 2007
Tuesday, May 8 saw the first interclub race meeting at Tedavnet. The Emyvale organised 20 mile race started in Tedavnet and consisted of two ten mile laps ending on a ‘drag’ up into the town.
The interclub league is between East Tyrone, Emyvale, Fintona, Lakeland and Omagh cycling clubs.
The field was split into three groups, front, middle and scratch and set off at appropriate intervals.
After one lap, two Lakeland men from the scratch group, Ray Dunlop and Kenny Boylan, had caught the middle group while the front group was still well clear at this stage.
Shortly into the last lap, Ray Dunlop got a puncture but, for the good of the team, Raymond Pauley gave him his wheel.
At the finish, the front group were still ahead and Lakeland’s Ken Dunlop was leading up the hill only to be pipped near the line by an East Tyrone rider.
Cecil Arthur was the next Lakeland rider to finish coming in with the front group. Ray and Dane Dunlop led the rest of the field in.
