Lakeland Cycling club Road Race 2 April 18th Lakeland cycling club staged their second road race on the club calendar. With the large turnout cyclists were divided into three groups which set off from Castlecoole and followed a relatively flat route to temp via Maguiresbridge turning left to face an uphill battle to Garvery and finishing at Lakeland Bikes Enniskillen. The front group consisted of some well-tuned riders and this group was going to prove hard to catch as they were given a 4minute head start over the next group which they used to their full advantage all working hard to maintain their lead over the middle group. The middle group had a larger posse of riders and worked well to eventually catch the first group on the slopes of Garvery, Strong riding was on display, Kieran Mcgrory powered up the hill followed closely by Alan Magee. The scratch riders worked extremely hard averaging 0ver 26mph, sensing that the middle group were still maintaining their lead tactics were soon changed as they approached Garvery Hill, Raymond Dunlop decided to attack stringing out the riders behind him and gaining significant inroads to the leaders, eventually it was just Raymond , Kenny Boylan and Ivan Reid (Omagh Wheelers), who could maintain the pace as they caught the lead group with only a few hundred meters to spare, it came down to an exciting bunch sprint which was first attempted by Conrad Cadden and Kieran McGrory but it was the power of Ivan Reid, Eugene Power,(Not just in name) and Raymond Dunlop and that clinched the podium finish. Top 6 places 1. Ivan Reid 2. Eugene Power 3. Raymond Dunlop 4. Mark McGirr 5. Alan Magee 6. William Dunlop
