Dane Joins "Magic Hour" Elite
On a perfect evening on Wednesday, May 14, 17 cyclists assembled in Belcoo for the 25 mile time trial from Belcoo to Garrison and back. The riders were set off at one minute intervals.
Last year one man, Kenny Boylan, broke the hour for the 25 miles, this year it was two with Dane Dunlop joining Kenny in the elite club of riders who can ride 25 miles in under an hour!
Dane also won the event with a time of 58 minutes and 22 seconds with Kenny second with 58 minutes and 52 seconds. Both riders averaging over 25 mph! Brian Mimnagh of Omagh Wheelers was third.
On the flat it was Peter Martin who took the honours over son, Brian, beating him by 38 seconds with a time of 62 minutes 22 seconds and finishing fourth with Brian fifth. Other performances of the night were “old hand” Wesley Foster in eighth with 66 minutes five seconds and debutant Roger Monaghan in ninth with 66 minutes 28 seconds. Thanks to Neil, Anthony and “Toppers” for marshalling the event.
